Feeding time at O.C. Barber’s Anna Dean Farm. Barber’s nearly 5,000 acre (3,500 on the main estate) farm housed nearly 1,000 head of milk cows not to mention the many other animals.
The cow barns were equipped with concrete flooring, heavy metal fixtures, electric lights, elaborate heating equipment, spacious store-rooms for grain, lofty far reaching hay mows, overhead litter carrier tracks and as Mr. Barber put it,
every other sort of labor saver, all tell of careful preliminary planning, conscientious, skillful workmanship, and an unshakeable determination to make use of and obtain only the best of everything.
